How fit do I need to be to do this trek?

Annapurna Base Camp is a Grade B or a moderately difficult trekking route. So any fit person can do this trek, even if you do not have any previous experience. You should be aware of what to expect and mentally prepare for it. Then, as long as you will too, you can.

How long do we walk every day when doing Annapurna Base Camp trekking?

On average, you walk about 4 to 6 hours per day. One or two days can be as less as 3hrs and one or two days can be as long as 7hrs.

What is the highest altitude reached in this trek?

The highest altitude reached is 4190m. This is the elevation of Annapurna Base Camp. ABC is the highest we will climb in this trek.

What about battery charging and hot shower facilities?

Yes, you can charge batteries en route. Charger should be brought. There are hot shower facilities as well. You may have to pay a certain amount for both ($1-$2). Negotiate. Also, a hot water facility could be free at a lower elevation.

Are there ATMs on the way to Annapurna Base Camp?

No. There are no ATMs on this trek route. You will have to draw enough cash in Pokhara or Kathmandu. There are a number of ATMs in these cities. Everything is paid in Nepali rupees. So money should be exchanged before the start of the trek.

What about internet access?

Yes. The Internet can be accessed in most places. Sometimes, there might be some technical problems. The Internet in Nepal is not as fast as you are used to and at times you can just lose connection.

Is it necessary to hire Guides/trekking agency for Annapurna Base Camp trekking?

Not really. It depends on you. If you want, ABC trekking can be done independently. You could hire a guide and a porter by yourself instead of going through an agency or not hire a guide at all. Although, not having a guide can be a little problematic during the offseason. It really depends on you. Is it your first time in Nepal? How confident are you of being able to find your way around? How pressed on time are you? If you go through an agency, it will be costlier but everything will be planned. You will only have to come, trek and return.

How much do guides and porters cost?

For the Annapurna region, pay for guides range from $20 to $30 per day and porters take $15 to $25 per day.

Day 1 :

Delhi to Joshimath – 500 km drive (~14 hrs)

Delhi to Joshimath drive – 500 km | Stay at Joshimath.
Assemble at the boarding point in Delhi – ISBT Bus Stand and drive to Joshimath, enjoying the scenic drive oering breathtaking views of lush mountains.
Enroute Joshimath, we will visit Haridwar , stop at Devprayag (the confluence of Bhagirathi and Alaknanda rivers), and also visit the revered Dhari Devi Temple , believed to be the guardian deity of Uttarakhand. Along the way, we’ll also witness the four holy sangams (river confluences) –Devprayag, Rudraprayag, Karnprayag, and Nandprayag.
After arriving at , check-in to our hotel/guesthouse, freshen up and have some leisure. Feel free to take a stroll around this gorgeous Himalayan town and pack for your next day's trek.

Day 2 :

Drive to Pulna via Govindghat

Drive from Joshimath to Pulna | Trek to Ghangaria – 9 km
Wake up early in the morning and post breakfast, we will drive from Joshimath to Pulna Village via Govindghat. From Pulna we will start our trek towards Ghangaria – the base for Valley of Flowers and Hemkund Sahib, along the pristine Pushpavati river.
Enroute Ghangaria, witness the natural charm of Bhyundar Valley , and serene views of waterfalls and lush mountains.
After arriving in Ghangaria, check-in to our guesthouse and have some leisure. Feel free to take a stroll around and attend trek briefing for your next day's adventure.
Savour home-style cooked dinner and overnight stay in a guesthouse at Ghangaria.

Day 3 :

Trek to Valley of Flowers and back – 8 km

Trek from Ghangaria to Valley of Flowers and back – 8km.
Wake up early in the morning and post breakfast, we will start our trek from Ghangaria to the Valley of Flowers National Park . Valley of Flowers is a World Heritage Site for its wild untamed blooms surrounded by white peaks.
Enroute cross the gushing Pushpavati river, Laxman Waterfall, and witness lush green surroundings. Experience the refreshing landscape decorated with various vibrant flowers like Blue Poppy, Himalayan Rose, and the widely popular Brahmakamal to name a few (subject to their natural lifecycle). If the weather is clear one can see the mighty Himalayan peaks such as Nilgiri Parvat, Rattaban , Gauri Parvat , etc. in the backdrop.
Post lunch, trek down from Valley of Flowers to Ghangaria and have some leisure

Day 04 :

Trek to Hemkund Sahib and back – 12 km

Trek from Ghangaria to Hemkund Sahib and back – 12km Wak e up early in the morning and post breakfast,
we will start our trek from Ghangaria to the holy Hemkund Sahib . Hemkund is one of the most revered pilgrim sites and the World’s Highest Gurudwara , nestled at an altitude of 14,100 ft.
After arriving at Hemkund Sahib, pay homage at the Gurudwara and witness the sacred glacial lake called Hemkund Sarovar. During clear skies, one can witness the flawless reflections of the adjoining Saptrishi peaks in this sacred lake. Also, seek blessings at the Laxman Temple built beside the Gurudwara. Pos t lunch, trek down from Hemkund Sahib to Ghangaria and have some leisure.

Day 05 :

Trek to Pulna | Drive to Badrinath & Mana | Return to Joshimath

Descend from Ghangaria to Pulna | Drive to Joshimath | Visit Badrinath and explore Mana Village Wak e up early in the morning and post breakfast, we will trek down from Ghangaria to Pulna Village and further drive from Pulna to Joshimath via Govindghat.
After arriving back in Joshimath, check-in to our hotel/guesthouse, have some leisure and regroup for a hearty lunch. Later, drive to Badrinath and then Mana village, the first village of India near the Indo-Tibetan border. Explore the peaceful Mana, visit the sacred Vasudhara Falls and the legendary Bheem Pul.
Drive back to Joshimath by evening. Savour home-style cooked dinner and overnight stay in a hotel/guesthouse at Joshimath.

Day 06 :

Drive back to Delhi (~14 hrs)

Drive from Joshimath to Delhi.

Wake up early in the morning and post morning tea, check-out from our property and drive from Joshimath to Delhi via Rishikesh .

Trek ends with lots of amazing memories and unforgettable experiences.
