How fit do I need to be to do this trek?

Annapurna Base Camp is a Grade B or a moderately difficult trekking route. So any fit person can do this trek, even if you do not have any previous experience. You should be aware of what to expect and mentally prepare for it. Then, as long as you will too, you can.

How long do we walk every day when doing Annapurna Base Camp trekking?

On average, you walk about 4 to 6 hours per day. One or two days can be as less as 3hrs and one or two days can be as long as 7hrs.

What is the highest altitude reached in this trek?

The highest altitude reached is 4190m. This is the elevation of Annapurna Base Camp. ABC is the highest we will climb in this trek.

What about battery charging and hot shower facilities?

Yes, you can charge batteries en route. Charger should be brought. There are hot shower facilities as well. You may have to pay a certain amount for both ($1-$2). Negotiate. Also, a hot water facility could be free at a lower elevation.

Are there ATMs on the way to Annapurna Base Camp?

No. There are no ATMs on this trek route. You will have to draw enough cash in Pokhara or Kathmandu. There are a number of ATMs in these cities. Everything is paid in Nepali rupees. So money should be exchanged before the start of the trek.

What about internet access?

Yes. The Internet can be accessed in most places. Sometimes, there might be some technical problems. The Internet in Nepal is not as fast as you are used to and at times you can just lose connection.

Is it necessary to hire Guides/trekking agency for Annapurna Base Camp trekking?

Not really. It depends on you. If you want, ABC trekking can be done independently. You could hire a guide and a porter by yourself instead of going through an agency or not hire a guide at all. Although, not having a guide can be a little problematic during the offseason. It really depends on you. Is it your first time in Nepal? How confident are you of being able to find your way around? How pressed on time are you? If you go through an agency, it will be costlier but everything will be planned. You will only have to come, trek and return.

How much do guides and porters cost?

For the Annapurna region, pay for guides range from $20 to $30 per day and porters take $15 to $25 per day.

Vijay Top is one of the less explored Himalayan treks, yet it offers the same charm and thrill that well-known treks like Kedarkantha are famous for. Situated inside the Govind Pashu Vihar Wildlife Sanctuary, the trek reaches an altitude of about 12,730 ft. and is a perfect combination of forest walks, quiet meadows, mountain ridges, and panoramic summit views.

If you are looking to step away from the crowded trails and wish to explore a peaceful side of the Himalayas, Vijay Top is an excellent choice. From the summit, you get breathtaking views of Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch, Black Peak (Kalanag), Kedarkantha, Baraadsar Range, Phulara Ridge, and the valleys of Rupin and Supin. Along the way, you also pass through traditional Himalayan villages with wooden houses and old temples that showcase unique mountain culture.

Day 1 :

Rishikesh to Phitari Village (7,000 ft)

Drive Distance: 210 km | 8–9 hrs

Stay: Homestay / Campsite

Begin your journey with a drive from Rishikesh to Phitari, a small mountain village that serves as the starting point of the trek. The scenic route passes through winding mountain roads, river valleys, and traditional Himalayan settlements. By evening, reach Phitari and settle in for the night.

Day 2 :

Phitari to Sarutal (8,200 ft)

Trek Distance: 5 km | 3–4 hrs

Stay: Camps

After breakfast, start the trek from Phitari. The trail climbs gradually through forests of pine and oak, opening up to green meadows with excellent views of surrounding valleys. Sarutal, a wide alpine meadow, makes for a beautiful campsite under the open sky.

Day 3 :

Sarutal to Khofra Base Camp (9,500 ft)

Trek Distance: 4 km | 4–5 hrs

Stay: Camps

Today’s trek is shorter but steeper in sections, as you make your way to Khofra Base Camp. The route passes through dense forests and high ridges, offering glimpses of Himalayan peaks in the distance. Khofra is a scenic campsite with open grounds, perfect for preparing for the summit push.

Day 4 :

Khofra to Vijay Top and return to Khofra (12,730 ft)

Trek Distance: 8 km | 6–7 hrs

Stay: Camps

Start early for the summit. The trail ascends steadily through alpine terrain, and in winters, snow adds to the adventure. On reaching Vijay Top, you are rewarded with a 360° panorama of Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch, Black Peak, Kedarkantha, and other majestic ranges. After spending time at the top, descend back to Khofra for overnight stay.

Day 5 :

Khofra Base Camp to Phitari Village (7,000 ft)

Trek Distance: 9 km | 5–6 hrs

Stay: Homestay / Campsite

Descend through meadows and forested ridges back to Phitari village. Enjoy the peaceful surroundings and interact with locals before resting for the night.

Day 6 :

Phitari Village to Rishikesh

Drive Distance: 210 km | 8–9 hrs

After breakfast, begin your return journey to Rishikesh. The drive takes you back through the same scenic route, marking the end of your Vijay Top adventure.
